Our Social Dilemma = Media Literacy

Information is crucial and referencing our work, project, topic of what is spoken is tied to someone’s history or professional title. Watching Social Dilemma on Netflix makes me understand that corporates can analyze our usage data online to either be addicted and to even act. As a performing artist we go into social media to showcase our talent, skills, and promote ourselves in an image where people can either appreciate, like or collaborated with.

According to Media Kix, high school students (Gen Z) were asked what they wanted to be when they grow up or what they want to pursue in college. 75% of them said they wanted to be a popular social media influencer. This was the 4th in the list of careers they wanted to pursue. As an example the top 10 youtubers made over $70 million over sponsorship and consistent content. So what does it take to become successful? There are 6 concentrations to focus on:

1- Creativity


3-Self-Expression (performing art/identity)




Being active on social media is time consuming but using wise time managment, focus and being conscious about how it is used with enhancing your media literacy, it can take you farther than you imagined.
